I love playing this game the planes look real for once and there are all sorts of planes to fly and have fun in free flight mode, however you can fly an F18 in the FSX but you can not arm the jet to go in to combat.
In the missions you start at beginner mode and work your up to expert and as you progress into advance flyer planes and helicopters change the way they fly and can be a real plain in the butt to handle.
In a couple of the missions you have to pick up some people out of the sea or pick up other stuff in a helicopter and this can be so difficult i just give up on the mission after the third or forth try, but if you go into free flight and fly an helicopter and hover as if it's second nature, so what gives? if you can fly a helicopter and hover better in free flight why make it so hard in the mission modes i will never know?
But still i love playing the game it's helped me to understand flight and how to fly a plane alot more than you would if you was to play a flight sim on the ps3 and i surpose if you are having flying lessons this game could help you out alot.
The graphics are outstanding and some of the views are breathe taking i never knew a game could look so real life, but because of the lack of combat in the F18 Hornet and any other combat aircraft as an add on you might buy for this FSX format and how difficult the planes and helicopters can be i only given the game three stars.

Purchased this for my son, I cant believe the amount of time he spends on his laptop flying all sorts of planes. Can even add them too! Great simulator eperience!
Worldwide Internet play & works great on Windows 7 64-bit August 25, 2010

My 8-year-old son here in France plays with his cousin in America over the Internet. Both have ADSL. There's no monthly fee for Internet play. I was concerned about possible problems with Windows 7 64-bit, but it works flawlessly. We run it on a machine with an Intel Q6600 processor and an nVidia 8800GT graphics card. Play is smooth even at 1920x1200.

I bought this (Gold Edition) from Amazon for [...]. I just looked it up on the site just now (1 month later) and it is selling for [...] - I wonder if someone had made a mistake - but whatever it was a bargain for me!!

Even at £40 or so it is probably worthwhile though
There is a lot to it and so far it has kept me amused for hours. You can quickly get to grips with some of the simpler aircraft but as you try more it gets harder - and maybe feels impossible but with time your skills must develop and you learn to control them.
Great fun and a bit beyond a "game". Highly recommended
